Purpose: 

To describe the requirements for treatment authorization.

Applies to: 

All eligible KU students who receive services at CAPS.

Policy Statement: 

In order to offer mental health services, CAPS requires authorization for treatment. An eligible student may authorize treatment if the student is at least 18 years old. If an eligible student is under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian’s authorization is required for services beyond the initial visit.

Consequences: 

Referral to another treatment provider.
