KUMC Policy Drone Operation on KUMC Property
Provide information regarding the prohibition on drones on campus.
All faculty, staff, students and visitors to the University of Kansas Medical Center campus.
Due to the fact that The University of Kansas Hospital is located within a five (5) mile radius of the Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport, and is a landing site for medical helicopters, the operation of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (Drones) is prohibited within the air space over University of Kansas Medical Center property.
Officers who encounter individuals operating drones above KUMC property will make contact with the person, advise them of the directive and require that they immediately land the drone and leave the property. Subjects who refuse to leave KUMC property may be charged with trespassing as appropriate. An informational or criminal report will be generated as appropriate.
For subjects who are not physically on KUMC property but operating the drone near or over KUMC air space, the officer will make contact, advise them of the directive and document the contact in an information report.
The incident will then be reported to the Central FAA Regional Operations Center at 816-329-3000.
