Guidelines to Reserve Danforth Chapel
The Chapel is nondenominational and provides a quiet place for individual meditation and prayer. It is also used for weddings, christenings, and appropriate student activities. The policy outlines scheduling, reservation, and payment information for utilization of the Chapel.
Weddings (students and non-students), KU student group usage, and other services such as memorial services, christenings, etc. (students and non-students).
All activities to take place in Danforth Chapel must be scheduled through the Student Involvement and Leadership Center, email@example.com or (785) 864-4861. Before an event can be scheduled, a completed reservation form, reservation fee, and event agreement must be submitted to the Student Involvement and Leadership Center. Reservation forms are available for download or can be picked up at the Student Involvement and Leadership Center office in the Kansas Union. Reservations for weddings must be made at least 30 days in advance of the date requested. Reservations for christenings must be made at least 2 weeks in advance of the date requested. You may fax or email your reservation form, however, your reservation will not be processed until payment and is received. Reservations are not guaranteed until payment and signed event agreement are received. If your payment is made by check and it is returned for insufficient funds, your reservation will be canceled.
Fees for the use of Danforth Chapel can be found at Danforth.ku.edu.. Tax deductible donations are also welcome and can be made by sending a check payable to KU Endowment Association with a notation in the check memo indicating the donation is for Danforth Chapel. Checks for donations may be sent to the Student Involvement and Leadership Center or directly to KU Endowment Association. Donations are used for improvements to the Chapel.
While there is no charge for registered student groups to reserve Danforth, we do require you to fill-out both a University Events Form (UEC) and a Danforth Reservation Form. (See Form information below.)
You will need a signature from SILC confirming the Chapel is available for your event. Both the UEC Form and the Danforth Reservation Form must be turned into SILC by Tuesday at noon, at least two weeks prior to your event.
