Watkins Health Services is primarily supported financially by the required student health fee paid by KU students each semester. However, a portion of the funding for health services comes from charges for medical procedures performed or those assessed for ancillary services (Lab, Radiology, Physical Therapy, Athletic Training and Pharmacy). Watkins Health Services has an internal Business Office which is responsible for billing charges to the patient or the patient’s insurance carrier. Payments are posted to the patient’s account and any remaining charges not paid by the insurance carrier are the patient’s responsibility. Unpaid charges are reported to Student Account Services for follow-up.
Specific policies/procedures relating to specific aspects of billing and payment for Watkins Health Services are listed with this document.
