Skateboarding and Rollerblading on Campus
The purpose of the city ordinance that describes the campus locations where skateboarding, rollerblading, and similar activities are prohibited is to improve pedestrian safety, minimize damage to campus property, and reduce maintenance costs resulting from such damage.
The University of Kansas, Lawrence campus
According to Lawrence city ordinance,
“It shall be unlawful for any person to ride, skate or use a coaster, roller skates, skateboard, roller blades, or other similar device on sidewalks in the area of Jayhawk Boulevard from West Campus Road to Thirteenth Street including 1000 feet on either side of this corridor on the University of Kansas campus.”
Violators of the ordinance are subject to receiving a citation to appear in the City of Lawrence Municipal Court.
