Mandatory Sexual Harassment Training for Students

Policy
Purpose:

To ensure University of Kansas students are aware of the nature of sexual harassment/sexual violence and how to prevent it and report it.  The online training is a foundational training, offered in addition to intersectional prevention education provided by the University.

Applies to:

All new and continuing KU undergraduate, graduate, and non-degree seeking students enrolled at the University.

Campus:
Lawrence
Edwards
Policy Statement:

To ensure University of Kansas students are aware of the nature of sexual harassment/sexual violence as well as how to prevent it and report it, the University of Kansas Lawrence and Edwards Campuses requires:

  • All new and continuing KU undergraduate, graduate, and non-degree seeking students to annually complete an online training coordinated by the Sexual Assault Prevention and Education Center by the established completion date.
  • Failure to complete the training will result in the placement of an enrollment hold on the student’s record, thus prohibiting enrollment for future semesters at the University until the mandatory training is completed.
Exclusions or Special Circumstances:

The training uses situations and topics that can be triggering to some survivors of sexual violence and/or intimate partner violence. Support for all affected by sexual violence and/or intimate partner violence is available through the confidential Care Coordinator at care@ku.edu. Training alternatives are available upon request to the Care Coordinator.

Consequences:

Failure to complete the training will result in the placement of an enrollment hold on the student’s record, thus prohibiting enrollment for future semesters at the University until the mandatory training is completed.
